Chelsea 2014/2015 half-time

The season so far... Chelsea 2014/2015

So similar to what I have done with Man Utd where I talked about how they have done so far and where they'll end up in the season of 2014/2015, I will indeed in this post do the very same for Chelsea in terms of how they have done so far and where they'll end up this season. Besides this I will be talking about the potential signings they could make and players they could release as well as what their best formation is.

The Campaign so far..

Not much to say really other than that they have been the team to beat this season and it's more than likely that they'll win the league this season. I think even before the season started, everyone rightly so guessed that Chelsea were going to be dominant this season and they have been. Their recruitment over past summer after the world cup just showed that with the likes of bringing one of the best keepers back to their club in Courtois and also bargaining on a bully of a striker who has been the top dog of the classes of strikers in the Premier League this season in Diego Costa.
The recruitment of Courtois and Costa last summer was unreal..
I think I speak for all Chelsea fans that, whenever Costa controls the ball on his preferred foot near the goal, it's for sure an instant game over for the opposing goal-keeper. What's more frightening about Chelsea this season so far however is the consistency and balance they have all around the areas of the team. It's like if one player is injured or needs a rest, they can always find a worthy replacement in their back ranks. I remember an instance when everyone was raving about Matić being injured and that all that balance around the team would fall down miserably. This however wasn't the case. All the members of the Chelsea squad just have the experience to know what to do when a little instance isn't going their way. When they are losing and time is running out for them, they are deadly just like they were against Newcastle away even though they did lose. I think it was good move of Mourinho to get Didier Drogba back to Stamford Bridge as well due to the fact he not only needed a familiar face that needed experience of winning a trophy with Chelsea, but he's a good back up if something happened to Costa. Don't get me wrong, Remy is a striker that I do rate and in my opinion should be played more often, but it's like I said, Mourinho needed a familiar face due to the fact that the players he used to manage at Chelsea are not playing for the club any more, so a move for Drogba was a wise one. There midfield for me doesn't need to change that much, maybe apart from one, but it's too dominant and balanced. The 3 behind Costa - Hazard, Oscar and Willian is a scary prospect to face if you were a defender trying to bat them away. What's more overwhelming is the 'ghost' Fabregas who is just sometimes unnoticeable at times.. which is a good thing. Sometimes he just shows up and plays a ball in and it's an instant goal.. LIKE WTF?! haha. As for trophies that they are going to win this season.. they could easily win a treble this season. I think the fact that they are not in the F.A Cup now will help the players to be ready for the other tournaments that they have a shot in. As i'm doing this Blog, it's recent news that Chelsea will be indeed be in the League cup final against Tottenham which I think Chelsea will win. I don't see Tottenham white-washing Chelsea again, Mourinho will for sure have learnt from his mistakes. As I said earlier, I do expect Chelsea to win the Premier League this season and that'll come after they go on a massive ruthless streak. As for the Champions league.. they really do have a chance of going through to the final and winning it. I think like last year, they'll beat PSG who are not having the best of seasons at the moment and can potentially stand up to the likes of Barcelona, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich are all favourites of winning the Champions League.

Potential Players In:

Even though I did say that all around the areas of the pitch, Chelsea look like a balanced, over-powered team, I still think they need to bring in players to cement where they are now. I do recall Man Utd winning a league in Alex Ferguson's last season and then in that year when David Moyes became the new Manager, they didn't make much signing at all. Chelsea could perhaps fall into that pit next season if they don't make any signings in the summer. In my opinion as well, players like Cech, Terry, Drogba aren't going to be at Chelsea for a long time, so they do need to bring in top quality players that will have longevity at the club..

Sergio Ramos - Now as mentioned, one of the players that won't be here forever and still have top quality will be Terry. Sorry if any Chelsea fans can't hack that, but it's true. Take example Rio Ferdinand in the last years at Man Utd, sure he had a good partnership with Vidic, but he wasn't the same pacey centre-back he once was in the mid 2000's. So by saying this, it's inevitable that Mourinho has to invest in a worldie of a centre-back that has the age and experience to carry on Chelsea's success. One player that I think Mourinho could go for could be Sergio Ramos. He's a player that has played under Mourinho before and would suit to the iron defence of Chelsea already. In an instant, he would become a favoured leader in that back 4.

Raphael Varane - Even though he's a target for multiple clubs including Man Utd which I did put as a potential signing for them in my Blog about Man Utd, if Chelsea don't get Ramos, the next player in the centre-back agenda could be Varane. As mentioned in my Man Utd Blog post, he's someone at age 22 who's already proven himself against some of the best attacking in the world and is highly rated by a lot of players in the world of football. In my opinion, it's not hard to see him play alongside Kurt Zouma who would probably form a good partnership instantly judging from the fact that they are both French.

Juan Cuadrado - Judging from the recent news recently that either Schürrle or Willian could be on the move, personally, I think a move for a winger could be another wise move. Besides Hazard, they don't really have a player that takes on a player one-on-one. Juan Cuadrado could be another player that could do that for them. He was one of the revelations at the last world cup and does have blistering pace. If any doubt, he is a player to watch out for this summer in regards to which club he could go for..

Douglas Costa - The last of the Players that i'm going to recommend, Douglas Costa, the striker for Shakhtar Donetsk, could easily be one of the players to come into the Chelsea squad next summer. With Drogba not playing regulary and is pretty much getting on with his age, Chelsea for sure need to invest in someone who has raw talent and is relatively young. Costa from what I've seen of him, would be very ideal in the Chelsea squad. He will not only be a nice blend with the other strikers of Remy and Diego Costa, he would bond with the amount of Brazilians Chelsea have already and would cope with the physicality of the Premier League..

Potential Players Out:

Undoubtedly, with the players that I have just mentioned who could sign for Chelsea and the amount of players that are out on Loan from Chelsea, we could see a few players leaving Stamford Bridge over the summer this year..

Mohamed Salah - Judging from the wingers they have already and the links Chelsea have had with other wingers like Juan Cuadrado, one player that could disappointingly leave Stamford Bridge could be Salah the Egyptian. He hasn't really had a chance to prove himself this season and could be swept away with the amount of competition that's already at stake at Chelsea. Sure he has talent, but it's apparent he isn't good enough even to make the bench a couple of times this season. My guess is that, if he isn't getting enough playing time for the rest of the season, he will undoubtedly leave.

Ryan Bertrand - Dubbed the next Ashley Cole at the Chelsea, Bertrand who's having a pretty decent season with Southampton, will personally look for a move where he'll play regularly. Chelsea who have already got consistent full backs in Azpilicueta and Filipe Luis, Bertrand I think will just get the picture and leave. He's a player at this age that needs consistent performances for a club that will get him recognised for the internationals. I think it'll be for Bertrand's development, to leave and stay at a club that he'll play all the time in the starting 11.

Christian Atsu - Dubbed the African Messi, Atsu who is at loan to Everton this season will again be a player that will look for a place to play all the time. With the amount of players that Chelsea have already in advanced positions behind the Striker, it's not looking good for Atsu. If he wants to progress as a player, he will make the smart move and play at a club he can play all the time and can be a play that this specific club can rely on..

Marko Marin - Similar to Atsu, the German Marin who also plays in advanced positions is player that will definitely leave somewhere for good rather going on Loan..AGAIN!! I'm sure he's player that will be angry at Chelsea for not giving him a chance to show what he has really got. Again a player that needs to go!!

My Team/Formation set-up

To be honest... there isn't much point into talking about Chelsea's formation really.. it's pretty much straight forward with the 4-2-3-1. I could change it but it probably won't look as good as the 4-2-3-1 formation which is so balanced for Chelsea at this instance and going into the future.

My Chelsea team using the 4-2-3-1:

                                                                      Courtois

                                         Terry                                                      Cahill
Azpilicueta                                                                                                                      Luis

                                                  Fabregas                       Matic

Willian                                                             Oscar                                                  Hazard

                                                                   Diego Costa

Sub: Cech, Zouma, Ramires, Schürrle, Ivanovic, Remy, Drogba
